Lori Hanson, the treasurer for the Town of Lafayette, has decided to resign from the treasurer’s position as of June 1, 2026.
The Town of Lafayette, Chippewa County (pop. 6,583) is currently accepting resumes for the position of Town Treasurer. This position is responsible for Statutory duties including managing cash flow/custody of funds, maintaining accurate financial records/bookkeeping, preparing financial reports for the board, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations and tax laws thus ensuring financial stability and integrity. Deposit receipts in a timely manner at the designated bank. Perform all duties related to collection of real estate taxes, working with Chippewa County Treasurer’s office. Maintain pet licenses. Misc. clerical and administrative duties. Qualified candidates must be a Town of Lafayette resident, have experience in accounting/bookkeeping/office procedures. Experience in QuickBooks accounting software and Microsoft Office software at an advanced skill level plus excellent customer service skills are also desired as the treasurer will be working with residents during office hours. We expect candidates to be dependable, self-directed, and able to perform with limited supervision and possess a high degree of integrity. Expect to work 12-20 hours per week.
